Form FL-110 is the Summons (Family Law) adopted for mandatory use by the Judicial Council of California. It is served on your spouse or domestic partner together with the petition and tells them a case has started, that they have 30 calendar days to file a Response (form FL-120), and what the court may order if they do not. Page two prints the standard family law restraining orders, which bind the petitioner once the petition is filed and the summons issued, and the respondent once served (Family Code § 233), until judgment, dismissal or a further order. FL-110 is the notice half of starting a California family law case. The official two-page bilingual Judicial Council PDF (Rev. A fictional self-represented petitioner files for dissolution of marriage in a California superior court and prepares the summons to be issued with the FL-100 petition. Only four boxes are the petitioner's to fill; everything else is pre-printed or for the clerk.
